International long-distance animal transport, but not only!

Mapets specializes in long-distance animal transport, but keeps a foot in its native Cévennes by offering a local animal taxi service in the north of Gard, in the Saint-Ambroix and Vallée de la Cèze area!

Animals first!

To be an animal taxi on long distance journeys, you must first be an animal lover! Every movement, every action will have an impact on the comfort and stress of our little road companions, and this must be a conscious awareness of every second during journeys whether they are short or long distance.

  • I adapt the routes as best I can so that the long-distance animal transport lasts as little time as possible while remaining comfortable. It is sometimes better to drive 1 hour more for a comfortable journey on the motorway than to save a little time by taking small roads on which my passengers will be mistreated.

  • I keep myself informed as much as possible throughout the journey about any difficulties and disruptions in order to limit the risk of getting stuck in traffic on a motorway, for example.

  • The times are also chosen carefully, such as summer for example, a season during which I drive as often as possible at night to limit the heat in the vehicle.

Don't have a watch!

We must not count the hours and adapt to the needs of those who trust us, individuals or professionals, who entrust us with their "babies". We must not expect to be home at 7 p.m. and spend all our weekends with our family!

This is why Mapets does not take days or hours into account and does not overcharge for long-distance journeys on weekends!

I am there when you need me and it is very often on the weekend! I will provide you with a quote whose price will not be adapted to the chosen date!

Why trust Mapets for long-distance animal transport?

Mapets offers a real ANIMAL TAXI service that is different in many ways from an ANIMAL BUS.

I work door to door. I pick up your protégé at the desired address to go to the exact arrival address, thus avoiding you having to go to a meeting point far from your home at a sometimes random time.

With Mapets, you have a real animal taxi service, the journey of your protégé is direct from point A to point B, it must last as little time as possible. The schedules are planned in advance according to your needs and my availability and are respected, according to the hazards of the road of course but you are kept informed of events throughout the journey.

Animal taxi offers greater flexibility in terms of schedules and routes, which can be particularly useful if you have specific transport needs. Mapets can travel day or night according to your needs, respecting precise schedules for an airport transfer for example.

The Animal Taxi is specially designed for the comfort of animals, with cages adapted for each trip to the needs of each animal and each individual. Mapets adapts the size of the cage for each traveler in order to optimize comfort while guaranteeing optimal safety. In the case of a simple emergency braking for example, your animal could be injured in a cage that is too large due to its own inertia. The Mapets vehicle is equipped with a surveillance camera that allows it to react quickly to the state of its passenger, to take a break, to stop to clean in the event of a "small incident" for example, so that it remains in a clean cage. Each species has its requirements, a journey for a cat is not carried out in the same way as for a dog, and is even different for a rabbit.

The NACS! Who are they really?

We often tend to consider as NAC everything that is neither dog nor cat! Spiders, snakes and other exotic animals…

But French and European laws do not see it that way and have therefore created an exhaustive list of species considered as domestic animals and allowing you to benefit from my long-distance animal transport and animal taxi services. You can take a few minutes to consult this list on the Légifrance website.

Pet or companion animal?

My animal transport services cannot transport just any pet, because "pet" does not mean "domestic" and vice versa!

Snakes, for example, that we mentioned above, are not admissible in my animal transport vehicle, because they are not "domestic" as the law understands it, but are nevertheless pets! And conversely, a cow is a "domestic" animal but not a pet, it is considered a livestock animal.

But so... what kind of pet transport do you do?

Well, the animal transport agreements allow me a clever mix of the two: these are domestic species pets!

This therefore concerns cats and dogs of course, but also NACs and therefore more precisely:

  • Mammals: Cat, Dog, Ferret, Rabbit, Guinea Pig, Rat, Mouse, Chinchilla, Hamster and Gerbil.

  • Birds: Cockatoo, Cockatiel, African Parrot, Budgerigar, Lovebirds, Amazon, Macaw, Canaries, Diamondback, Mynah, Metallic Blackbird, for the main ones...

Transporting pets is not always possible!

Indeed, for an animal to benefit from my animal taxi services, it must meet certain mandatory criteria such as identification for carnivores.

A dog, cat or ferret cannot be taken in for animal transport if it is not chipped and registered with Icad... or possibly tattooed, but tattooing is becoming rare because it has not been authorized since July 3, 2011.

transport animalier

"No one shall transport or cause to be transported animals in conditions where they are likely to be injured or to suffer unnecessary suffering."

I am not making this up, Council Regulation (EC) No 1/2005 of 22 December 2004 is very clear on the conditions to be met for the transport of pets.

The health of my one-day protégés is the most important criterion for them to be transported by my animal taxi service, so there are the following cases for which this will not be possible:

  • They are unable to move on their own without pain or to move without assistance.
  • They have a serious open wound or prolapse.
  • These are pregnant females (said to be a female ready to give birth or pregnant) who have completed at least 90% of the expected gestation period or females who have given birth during the previous week.
  • These are newborn mammals in which the navel has not yet completely healed.
  • These are dogs and cats under eight weeks old, except when accompanied by their mother.

In any case, if we have any doubts about the health of an animal for its transport, we always follow the advice of the veterinarian.
